OPEN UP your heart and HELP US make a difference

For some women the term get away from it all doesn't mean a vacation. An escape is just that. It means digging deep and finding the courage, resources and support to leave a situation of family violence and a home that is no longer safe for them and their children. Often they leave with nothing but the clothes on their back.

Perhaps a single mother wants and needs to create a better life for herself and her children and is temporarily having trouble coping. She takes her children to a place where they can be safe while she works things out.

There are many women and children in crisis. There are many stories and many needs. Each year thousands right here in our own communities are exposed to family violence, poverty and homelessness.

They are living in local shelters, group homes or temporary housing and many don't own one of the simplest of things - a pair of pajamas. When it comes time to go to sleep many just pull a blanket over the clothes they wore that day.

Putting on a new pair of cozy Pajamas makes them feel safe, secure and loved. The warmth they provide is felt deep into the heart.

Send them some love. Give a new pair of pajamas to a child and you'll be giving hope. Help to make the end of a hard day a little softer at a time in their lives when they feel most vulnerable.

Who Will Benefit

The Pajama Program supports Childrens Cottage Society and Discovery House in Calgary and in the rural Municipal District of Foothills Rowan House whose wish list includes pajamas for boys and girls in sizes ranging from newborn to 12 years. In the Edmonton region we are happy to support Kids Kottage Foundation the
Edmonton Dream Centre.

What can you do? How can you help in your community?

Help the women and their children in your area

Have a Pajama Drive or Benefit Party with your community or group.
Host a Pajama Party for grown-up girls and ask friends to bring a pair of Pajamas to donate.
Teach your children about giving at a kids sleepover or birthday party.

Support an organization in your area that supports children in crisis by giving them the Pajamas you have collected. Contact us today to find out how you can make a difference. We will profile you and/ or your organization or group as a Friend of The Pajama Program and designate you a VIPj

Our next Pajama Drive is March 16-18, 2012

Special thanks to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge who have generously donated the Grand Prize for our annual Pajama Drive at The Pajama Party. You and your gal pal could win a weekend for two at the 2013 Pajama Party event. For each new pair of childrens pajamas you donate, you will get one entry toward the Grand Prize. Value $1200

"In times of crisis when children visit our Crisis Nursery, they do not pack a bag or bring any of their personal belongings. This is why your donation of pajamas are so important to the Children's Cottage. These items are much needed and provide them with the things they would expect to have at home.

Staying in a new place can sometimes be scary for these young ones, but because of your donation you have helped make their stay a little more comfortable, keeping them warm in their bed and helping them sleep tight at night!
